Read this and you’ll never use ‘Boost Post’ ever again.

Updated: Jul 23

If you are a local business owner and use ‘boost post’ to advertise your products or services, by the end of this article you would be glad that you read this. Using ‘Boost post’ is basically throwing your money into a bonfire, which would still be useful as bonfire will keep you warm. So let’s talk about…

How boost post is the biggest scam ever!

To get to the roots of this scam, you need to know why boost posts exist. The real feature Meta provided for advertising was ‘meta ads manager’. The biggest problem with the ads manager was…

…it looked extremely COMPLICATED!

I mean, just look at this:

Boost post, More clients in Edmoton

There were 11 campaign objectives, now consolidated into 6… but after this choice you still have to make your way through at least 50 more choices. Some of those do very little, some of those make a massive difference.

When I saw this the first time…

…I got an anxiety attack.

It was like I am trying to diffuse a time bomb and I need to cut the right wire, but for like 50 times in a row.

Pretty nerve wrecking.

Marketing is my passion and I was willing to give up at that moment.

I was like, “Nah! I can’t take it anymore.”

Now imagine…

…what a plumber (who is passionate about plumbing and just wants to attract some clients for his business) would do when he is greeted by such a complicated interface.

Obviously, he would quit at the very first step. Trust me, it complicates even more.

Meta knows this. Their yearly ad revenue is over 100 billion (yes, with a B). They were not foolish enough to lose their ad revenue due to the complex interface of Ads Manager.

Which is why they give you the option to ‘boost’ your posts.

This is an ultra simple way to spend money on ads and tons of business owners use it without ever realizing that they’re just throwing their money into a bonfire.

Yes, if you boost a post you get more exposure. But you’re missing out on basically everything that makes Meta such a great way to get clients:

  • You’re limited to only the post types that exist for organic posts.

  • You can’t test different audiences.

  • You can’t A/B split test different ads against each other.

Using a boosted post to reach clients is like trying to win a bicycle race with a kiddie bike and training wheels. By the end of this article, you’re going to upgrade from a kiddie bike to a shiny carbon framed ultrafast racing bike.

“So, what’s the solution?”

Use ‘meta ads manager’. It gives you more features, more control, more targeting and most importantly… WAY more Clients.

So, from today onwards we will never use ‘boost post’ ever again.

Unless you like burning money. In which case you should always boost posts.

Now, you would be asking…

“If ads manager is too complicated, how will I use it?”
